Honoring African American Couples Married 50 yrs and Longer

You know a SPECIAL EVENT when one comes to you and when I was presented with organizing this event, I was honored.  In Nov. '98, Mrs. Betty Powell requested my assistance to get sponsors, volunteers and other item for this engagment.  Because of the reason, many companies and the City Of St Petersburg gladly joined.  24 couples where honored.

The event was repeated the following year with 41 couples honored.
